Who are continents’ leading Premier League scorers?

Son Heung-min’s winning strike for Tottenham Hotspur against Crystal Palace made him Asia’s No 1 scorer in the competition with 20 goals, overtaking Park Ji-sung.

But, who are the other continents’ leading scorers and how close are they to being overtaken?

The Premier League’s record scorer Alan Shearer leads the way for Europe with 260 goals for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United.

His nearest challenger is Wayne Rooney, of Everton, who has 58 more goals to score to match Shearer.

Sergio Aguero broke a club record when scoring for Manchester City against Arsenal on Sunday. It also took to 130 his Premier League goal haul, cementing his status as South America’s leading scorer.

Aguero has 46 more goals than his fellow Argentinian, Carlos Tevez.

Dwight Yorke scored the most goals for Central/North America, amassing 123 goals during 17 seasons with Aston Villa, Manchester United, Blackburn, Birmingham City and Sunderland.

Clint Dempsey is next from that continent with 57 goals for Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur.

Didier Drogba remains Africa’s No 1 with 104 goals from two spells with Chelsea.

The Ivorian leads Emmanuel Adebayor, of Togo, by seven goals, Yakubu, of Nigeria, by nine while compatriot Yaya Toure, still playing for Manchester City, is 42 goals behind.

Mark Viduka also holds a comfortable lead atop the Australia/Oceania standings with 92 goals for Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Newcastle.

The Australian’s closest challenger is his countryman Harry Kewell, who scored 57.
